In Defence of Mido...
Much has been made in the British press of the flair up between Mido and the Egyptian Coach Sheheta after the African Nation's semi-final. The general tone of the coverage seems to be quite condemnatory of Mido. But I recon its six of one and half a dozen of the other. If you watch the footage it's the coach who faces of, spitting and gesticulating, red faced infront of the young Tottenham striker. Mido looks quite calm compared to the supposedly more mature coach.
I agree, its out of order to question a coach's decision on the touch-line, but the whole thing has been blown out of all proportion. I also think the argument was the result of bad man management, and not necessarily Mido's lack of control.
Look at his progress at Tottenham. He's been substituted many times by Jol, with no problems. He's been openly chriticised by jol for his weight when he first arrived..his response was, to train harder and get fit. Does that sound like he has no control of his emotions?
My conclusion is...OK, Mido made a mistake but Sheheta went banana's and handled it terribly. The Egyptian FA has grossly overeacted with a six month international ban. . . .Tottenham benefit.
